Dear children of Medjugorje, praised be Jesus and Mary!

1. On July 2nd, 2019, Mirjana received her monthly apparition at the Blue Cross, surrounded by a large crowd of pilgrims. After the apparition, she conveyed this message:

Dear children, according to the will of the merciful Father, I have given you, and will still give you, evident signs of my motherly presence. My children, this is a motherly desire for the healing of souls. This is a desire that every child of mine may have true faith, to live to see wondrous experiences, drinking from the spring of the words of my Son-the words of life. My children, my Son, by His love and sacrifice, brought the light of faith into the world and showed you the way of faith. Because, my children, faith elevates pain and suffering. True faith makes prayer more sensitive, and does acts of mercy-a conversation, a gift of alms. Those of my children who have faith-true faith-are happy despite everything because they live the beginning of heavenly happiness on earth. Therefore, my children, apostles of my love, I am calling you to give an example of true faith, to bring light where there is darkness, to live my Son. My children, as a mother I am telling you: you cannot go on the way of faith and follow my Son without your shepherds. Pray that they may have the strength and the love to lead you. May your prayers always be alongside them. Thank you.

As on all sites linked to Medjugorje, at the request of the authorities, we won’t post the video of Mirjana’s apparition as before. Obedience is always blessed!

2. The Church is in agony. There are many mothers among us. Some suffer from what is happening with their children when they have taken the wrong path. Some are even crushed with pain. I see their faces tormented by anxiety. In private, they confide tome their sorrows; they weep and ask me to pray. A son in prison, another on drugs, an alcoholic son, a daughter in the midst of a divorce… What can a mother do when she is suffering like this? With maternal love, she weep sand prays. She intercedes with her whole wounded heart and her love for her child never ceases. She doesn’t shout from the rooftops the vagaries of her child.

What does the Mother of God do when some of her sons of predilection – the priests – no longer follow the path of her Son Jesus and stray into sin? First of all, we have to remember that the majority of priests are good and do everything in their power to serve the Lord and the faithful the best they can. The media do not give these priests any recognition! For the others, those who have become the subject of bad news and scandals, she weeps, and she prays. She asks her faithful and the “apostles of her love” to sympathize and to pray with her. She doesn’t list the sins of her priests and she doesn’t turn this into public scoops.

The Church is the bride of Christ and has received from His very mouth the promises of eternal life. But there is a difference between the Church, and the servants of the Church. They shouldn’t be confused! The holy Cardinal Journet said: “The Church is without sin, but not without sinners. She is without sin in the sense that, despite the unworthiness of her ministers, she offers me all the help, all the graces of sanctification for my eternal salvation: the Mass, the sacraments, the love of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints, the magisterium, etc. That is why I keep my trust in the Church”.

The Blessed Mother said last year: “The Church is my Son” It is also written that those who have been redeemed “follows the Lamb wherever he goes”. (Ap 14,4).And what did the Lamb go through in the days before his resurrection? During his agony, he was unrecognizable, disfigured. His swollen face was covered in blood, mud, spit… It barely looked human. (Isaiah 53,14).Now, the Church has to configure herself to Him and live that similarity with her divine Bridegroom! So, to criticize and judge the Church and its servants is to turn away from Jesus Himself, it is like saying to him: “How disfigured you are, Jesus, how ugly you are! Away from me, I cannot look at you! I’m leaving you because I cannot stand you anymore!” To reject the Church is to reject Christ. To love the Church is to love Christ.

Mary invites us to be one with her motherly soul, especially in these difficult times when so much misery has spread within the Church itself. It is not a question of denying them, but She invites us to suffer with her out of love for Jesus, in the deep silence of true compassion. Her maternal heart, pierced by a sword of pain as old Simeon had prophesied, is awaiting the Resurrection. We are invited to weep silently with her and to hope, as she does, for the moment of victory that is coming in leaps and bounds. If the Church is in agony today, that is a good sign, because then her restoration is very near!

This is not the time to jump off the boat! This is the time imitate the saints in their perseverance.

3. To win the hearts of priests. Do you know the young Marcel Van from Vietnam? (1928 – 1959). He experienced an exceptional grace that could make us green with envy! From the early age of 14, Van was trained directly by Little Flower, Saint Thérèse, in his spiritual life! He never saw her, for she manifested herself to him in the form of a voice that he heard, and that led him step by step towards holiness, which he achieved.

Therese had dreamed of going to Vietnam to evangelize, but her charisma was different, she had to live this divine fire that burned inside her for the souls, in a hidden way. Therese defines her vocation thus: “In the heart of the Church, my mother, I will be love!”

It seems that with little Van, she found the right soul! Van really lived with her and under her guidance, the sublime adventure of intimacy with Jesus and all the demands this entails for the salvation of souls.

Van had the freshness and spirit of a child. As a teenager, he had conversations with Jesus, and these conversations – recorded in his diary – are very moving! The tenderness of innocence is mixed with magnificent revelations. Van reveals the incredible closeness of Jesus in our daily lives.

Jesus and Therese led Van to the point of giving his life for priests, and for unbelievers to find the pathway to faith. When South Vietnam was ravaged by the threat of communist invasion instigated by Hanoi, Van decided to go to North Vietnam, “so that there is someone there who loves the Good Lord among the communists”. He was arrested there in 1956, and on 10 July 1959 he died of starvation in the bottom of a prison north of Hanoi. He was 31 years old. (See PS 3)

Here are some snippets from his writings, taken from his conversations with Jesus. Let us look at his words about his personal vocation, and then what Jesus told him about priests:

Jesus: In heaven, I will give you the mission of helping your big sister Therese to inspire the world to trust in my love.

Therese: Little brother, rejoice, and be glad to have been among the “Apostles of God’s Love” who have the privilege of being hidden in the heart of God to be the vital force of missionary Apostles. O, little brother, can there be a greater happiness than that?… You, little brother, will always have the function of being the hidden Apostle of Love. (Autobiography 652)

Priests

Marcel: Little Jesus, tell me why you love priests so much? Every time you talk about them, I see that you show them the utmost respect!

Jesus: It is because priests are really other selves for me. Their dignity trumps that of being my Mother. The dignity of our Mother Mary does not equal that of priests. However, Mary is more powerful, since she is my Mother; therefore, the priests being my other selves are also the children of Mary. In heaven, the soul of a priest will be the object of the veneration of all saints including our Mother Mary. Little brother, you’re already very tired, aren’t you? Get some rest. You’ll write another time. (Conversations 478)

“Many priests use my name to lead many souls to perdition. Pray for these priests. I still love them, and I wait for them. My child! Love me in their place…” (Conversations 10)

“One thing, however, consoles me a little, is that many priests still know how to love me… Truly, these priests form around me a shield that protects me from the slings of unfaithful priests… I have a predilection for these good priests, I keep my eye on them, and I rejoice with them. I never cease to be their guide and their support. I do everything I can to pamper them. They are always by my side, never getting away from me. My child, look for such priests! (Conversations 11)

Jesus: My child, little apostle of my love, if I could show you the pain that priests cause me every day by their behavior towards me, perhaps you would ask me to punish these priests on the spot. Apostle of my love, try to pray and make small sacrifices to console my loving Heart. O my little child, if the priests themselves rebel against me, where will my love seek some consolation? Pray, my child, pray as if you had to suffer my sad fate yourself. (Conversations 25)

Little apostle of my love, to escape the slings and arrows of sinners, I take refuge with the priests, I implore their help and then I ask them to console my neglected love. Alas! There are some among them who treat me casually and throw me out, meaning that it is not appropriate for me to show them my love and that my words of love are exaggerated. Because of this conduct, the souls entrusted to them lose confidence in me. Little apostle of my love, nothing pierces my heart like seeing that people lose confidence in me. In such a situation, I must withdraw into the little souls and, once settled there, I recognize them as my brides and take them into my service and give them the dignity of mother of the souls I want to save. I give them marks of love, I even enable them to know my unfortunate fate … (Conversations 27)

Little friend of my love, since I am one with you, you must suffer just like I did from the atrocities inflicted upon me. To console my love and atone for the sins that priests never cease to commit against me, willingly accept the sufferings I am sending you, at a time when I should be sending you joy and sweetness. (Conversations 29)

I am asking you to endure these sufferings with the sole intention of associating you with me in the work of the sanctification of priests, so that, in accordance with their vocation, they may work ardently toward the reign of Love in the hearts of men. (Autobiography 867)

Jesus: You must pray today for the priests; we must remember those priests who have strayed far from Love and who walk barefoot in the mud of sin… O my little brother, stand by the cross today, kiss my feet and keep repeating: “O Jesus, I love you for the priests who do not love you. Let your Love freely penetrate the most intimate hearts of the priests.”(Conversations 477)

Bananas. On April 8, 1946 (to understand Van’s childlike spirit!)

Marcel: Yesterday during the meal, I asked little Jesus this question: “Little Jesus, did you ever eat bananas? He replied with a laugh: “Marcel, I didn’t come down to earth to eat.” But then, responding to my wish, he added in a more polite tone: “I have never eaten bananas and there are still many things that you eat that I have not eaten. However, now, when you eat something, it’s like I’m eating it myself, since we’re one.” When I heard little Jesus speak like that, I was very happy and I ate two bananas. (Conversations 397)

On July 10th, Van’s feast day took place during the priests’ retreat in Medjugorje. May the pure heart of Van accompany them in their hardships and inspire in them the burning desire of holiness, and attract many souls to God!

4. When Ivan the visionary is in Medjugorje, he welcomes priests who wish to pray with him in his chapel at the time of the apparition. Last month, one of our priest friends came back radiant. He had been suffering from severe anxiety. This anxiety left him during the apparition and he could taste the air of heaven.

Of course, these graces are neither automatic nor magical, for God gives what he wants to whomever he wants and when he wants. However, it is always good to ask for Mary’s intercession! Her Son Jesus cannot refuse her anything, for she herself has never refused Him anything. Like Jesus, Mary knows what we need most, and when it is best to give it to us. A sincere prayer is always answered, in God’s own time.
